Finals Ate the Yockeyites (Or At Least One of Them)

So nothing much is going on right now. I'm doing lots of homework. (I'm writing this when I should be working on an 8-10 page paper.) Husband is doing lots of sleeping and playing games. (Don't worry, he does wash the dishes too.) I'm really excited because school is done in a week and a half! WOOHOO! And then it's break and I can see family and go wear a tangerine-orange dress in a wedding and see family for Christmas! I'm SO excited for Christmas, you have no idea.

Tonight we're going to hear the Canadian Brass play. I think they're going to be joined by an orchestra and chorus. It's a Christmas concert so that will be so awesome! I'm excited.

Also, today, the first of December, we woke up to a thunderstorm in the morning. No snow. Go figure. Don't worry, we went back to sleep until about 1. Ish.

We got out Christmas decorations put up a week ago. I haven't turned off the lights since we plugged them in. Except for the ones around the tv, because LED Christmas lights make it difficult to focus on Mario Kart.

So... yeah. That's about it. Tons of homework next week, and then for the most part I'm done. And then it's ONLY ONE MORE SEMESTER TO GRADUATION! Wooohooooo!! Husband graduates then, too, but he has to take some more classes during Spring semester in preparation for his master's program. And then he has to actually do the master's program, unless they don't accept him. When I asked him what his plans were if he wasn't chosen for the program, he replied, "Whimper." Hopefully he will know soon in April if he's accepted.

I have to go put Christmas music on and do more homework now. Husband is giving me the look of sternness. Chestnuts roasting on an open fire...

Wisdom Teeth and Text Messages

I got my wisdom teeth out yesterday (Friday). What a fun time. Mom and I got to the Maxillofacial Clinic about 2:10, when my appointment was at 2:30. She filled out the paperwork and we sat in there... and I shivered from both nervousness and because I was freezing my butt off. I also dozed a little, but woke up and decided to stay awake after one of the nurse ladies walked by and I woke up to her staring at me with a funny look on her face. What a weird lady. Then they called my name, and I had to take off my coat and gloves and go back into another room with mom.

In this room, the lady made me hold still with my face in a weird position so that she could x-ray my mouth. Then she asks me a few questions and I'm still shivering because this room was even colder than the waiting room. THEN she hands me mouthwash and tells me to swish it for 20-30 seconds. This is the same mouthwash they have you use after you get your teeth out. It burned my gums and made me gag a little. It was rather gross. Then Dr. Van Dam comes in, looks in my mouth even though the x-rays are on every screen in the room, starts telling me about every little thing that could go wrong, and then tells me not to panic. How nice of him.

A wonderful lady came in the room to get me after Dr. Van Dam left. Her name was Sheila (I'm surprised I remember that) and she seemed like a genuinely nice person. Turns out, she was. I was surprised. Not at all like the dental hygienist ladies who seem to think it's hilarious to poke you in the gums with sharp, pointy tools and sarcastically ask why you're flinching. (Speaking of which, I found out yesterday during band by one of my fellow Clarinet friends who has the same dentist, that one of our dental hygienist ladies was murdered by her boyfriend who then committed suicide afterwards. What a great story, right? Not.)

Anywho, she takes me back to where they're going to remove my teethies, and starts getting me all ready. Keep in mind I was incredibly nervous by this point in time, and this room was even more cold than the two previous ones. It sucked, because I don't shiver, I have convulsions. She asks me which arm would be better for the IV. Because I've always had people have trouble with my left arm, I say she should use the right arm. She tried to, of course. I now have three little holes in my arm because I have "hard veins" and every time she tried to get the needle in there, they would move off to either side and not hold still. She then tried to find a vein in my right hand, but doesn't even try to put the needle in when she took a look at my hand, and decides that those veins are too small. Left arm worked on the first try.

So she puts the needle in my arm and tapes it down, but doesn't start the IV. Instead, she puts weird sticky circle things on my arms and a blood pressure cuff on my left arm, puts an oxygen tube in my nose (BLECH) and has me take some deep breaths. Then, I'm dozing off when the IV hasn't even started yet (I was tired, what can I say?) And I hear someone say something, so I open my eyes, my eyes won't focus, and I don't remember anything else until I woke up.

I woke up a bit faster than most other people do, according to the lady who shook me awake gently in yet another room that didn't even look remotely familiar. She offers me a drink, and I decline, not realizing that I actually really wanted one. So I start to move myself around, I can't feel the lower half of my cheeks, my chin, my tongue, or my lower lip, although I could feel my upper lip for some reason. I promptly got yelled at to hold still and wait for help to sit up. I hadn't really thought it would be a problem for me to do on my own, seeing as I was still in the chair, and there was no chance that I would fall down, seeing as I was already down. Still. Got yelled at. How mean.

I then ask to be helped up into a standing position, after I realized that sitting up, and the more elevated I was, the clearer the head I had. So I do ask for some water, and am helped up, and right out of the room. I get passed off to mom, she walks me out to the car, and we head to Safeway. I made her take me through Safeway with her, and she held my hand all the way inside the door and to the soup aisle. Then she let go. How nice. I was doing fairly well all on my own though. She goes to get the prescriptions filled, then we buy soup, go back to pick up and pay for the prescriptions, and then go home.

At home, I went upstairs and decided to relax. I was texting people, but it wasn't really a problem at that time. Eventually I took a nap, get woken up around 7:40 (didn't get home until after 5) and I go downstairs for food. I got some tomato soup and my antibiotic medication and some painkillers down, and while we are waiting for them to kick in, we have family scripture study and prayer. After prayer, mom and dad and I were still kneeling on the floor. Mom complained that dad should get a tissue due to the fact that he had a booger. He then turned to me (I had fresh gauze in my mouth at this time and could only really mumble what I wanted to say) and turned his head up so I could see right up his nose, and asked if he had a boogie. I told him it looked more like a waltz to me, and both mom and dad cracked up, while I tried not to smile due to the fact that it hurt.

Then I wandered upstairs and took a shower. Sitting in my bed, I put a passcode on my phone so that I wouldn't be able to text anyone while I was on the pain killers and while I was tired. If only that had actually worked. Poor, poor Marcus and Logan got messages from me, and they didn't make any sense at all. Marcus got lucky and got only one message, Logan wasn't so lucky and got three. Waking up this morning and reading them? I was confused, to say the least.

The one I sent to Marcus said this:
"If cats could live in shoe pnats, would shoe pijs be som water el?"

Whatever that says. I have no idea. Now, the ones I sent to Logan, on the other hand, made even less sense.
Here's the first one:
"Singing kit kat cark syleh tired?"

And then one immediately after that:
"Night to you slepp dreams tomrow see drive?"

To which he texted back saying: "What?"
And I replied: "?,!i" And passed out. I woke up to a reply from him saying:
"lol go home Caitlyn, you're drunk."

Whoops. That was all my adventures for the night though. I had tomato soup for breakfast, and tomato soup and cake for lunch. Have a nice day! -Caite

What We Do in Our Spare Time

This post is long overdue, but then again, so is my free time. So sometimes the three of us get in the craziest moods, and I have some screenshots here of our texting conversations to prove it.

It all started one night when I was texting Ashley. I had a long, stressful day, and I think I just snapped. I'm the green messages in each case.

Now I will post the conversation I was having with Caite via text at the same time.

Here's the part where I started bugging her. Ashley had stopped texting me.

And going back to the conversation I had with Ashley, I did actually bug Dan.

At which point he stopped texting me... I think he was working or something. Anyways, that's what I tell myself when people stop texting me.

I love these screenshots, because it shows how goofy all three of us are, but at the same time, you can see the different ways that we are goofy. We all have our own senses of humor and silliness, and yet, we share similar spirits that I'm pretty sure we got from our silly parents. Ashley is goofy in her manner and words, Caite is goofy in her puns and jokes and the faces she makes, and I think I'm just weird. I don't even know.

I love my family!

Halloweenie

Yes, I now will write my Halloween story... it was so exciting...

First, I went to school. And then I went to the academic advising center (which actually came with really good news that I'll post about VERY soon on my blog, so stay tuned over there). And then I came home and ate leftover homemade pizza. And then I did a little homework. And then we had some trick-or-treaters, three girls who looked to be about late middle/early high school age who were all dressed as witches, but not your typical cute witches, more like goth.... witches.... I don't know. We got another set of three girls in the same style about an hour later, so while the amount of trick-or-treaters at our door this year was up 600% or something, the two-year-old ladybug that was our only treater last year was way cuter.

But I digress.

Anyways, the only other thing we did was eat Halloween candy and play Age of Empires on the computer together. And then one of my friends came over at 11 to hang out for a few minutes before she had to go for curfew at midnight.

And now I'm going to go sit in the warm shower, which is one of the only good things about cold weather (although today it was warm enough to go without a jacket) and then go to bed.

I know, we married folk are boring. But we missed our ward Halloween party last Thursday and while I thought about putting my blue formal dress on to pretend to be a princess, knowing I would just sit on the couch in it made it not as fun.

Also, NaNoWriMo starts tomorrow, so that's the next pseudo-holiday the Yockeyites are celebrating. But other than that (and the usual grind of homework) that's about all that happened here. Yay!

Halloween in Logan

Thank you Caite for posting! I issued a request for all three of us to post about our Halloweens, and she did, busy as she is! Bless her heart. Now it's my turn.

Halloween this year was just plain fantastic. I decided I was going to be Wonder Woman. Modest, of course. I was not wearing a spangly corset, nor was I wearing spangly booty shorts. I wore pants and a Wonder Woman t shirt. You know what it feels like to walk around as Wonder Woman? It feels great. If someone was narrating my day today, it would go like this:

"Wonder Woman is raking the leaves. Wonder Woman is washing the dishes. Wonder Woman made dinner. Wonder Woman is eating cake."

Or thereabouts. I only wore my t shirt to work today, because I was taking the boss to a restaurant that will give candy to people wearing costumes. It wasn't worth it, though. All I got was a teeny little ziplock bag of Halloween jelly beans. I hate jelly beans.

Also, we had a dinner tonight with friends. My roommate and I planned it and executed it and speaking of cake, that was my favorite part. I made a white cake with vanilla frosting, but dyed the cake orange and the frosting turned out a tombstone gray. It was delicious.

On Saturday I went to two parties within the ward and played games. It was a blast. At the second party, my roommate and I started a Foosball tournament and ended up with three people (my team) on two people (her team) and at the last game I told her that loser does the dishes. I lost. And I did the dishes. And then we left the game to the guys (the experienced players) and went to the haunted corn maze.

The haunted corn maze was just plain AWESOME. We got so lost and held hands and ran away from people and all out had a blast. The actors kind of stopped acting and were goofing off with us, which was great. I know I've told several people the same stories about the corn maze several different times, but really, I just like talking about it because it was that much fun.

And then Monday was the ward FHE Halloween party, which was great. Ashley Roommate and I ran around and were goofing off. We did the donut race, which was eating donuts off of a string and the race was over when you had all the donut in your mouth (you didn't have to swallow it), which means your donut is eventually going to fall off the string and you're going to have to eat it off the floor. It was great. And when it came to apple bobbing, we both stuck our whole heads basically underwater to try to catch the stupid apple. It's a heck of a lot harder than it seems, and we walked around the rest of the night with wet hair.

I love Halloween. I was planning my costume for a while, and I'm already excited for next year. Good thing Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here soon, or I might start getting next year's Halloween costume next week.

I just love holidays.
Love, Meems

My Not-So-Typical Halloween

Alright Emily, here you go, so I win because I got to it first! Ha! Take that! :D (Just kidding, I love you two!)

So my Halloween is going slightly dull. Despite the usual Halloween costumes and paraphernelia adorning my high school, I am bored almost out of my skull. (Which, I'm sure, would be an interesting sight for everyone.) So far, just during school, I have seen several flappers, no less than half a dozen bananas, several hooker cowgirls with fake ponies, and a girl dressed up as some sort of creepy geisha marionette. However, I give kudos to Elli, who is a marvelous person, who dressed up as a fully modest Snow White, and she was GORGEOUS. Seriously. Someone put handcuffs on that woman, for it is a crime to look that good.

At the beginning of band, Mr. Bowman was dressed in his regular clothes. When he walked into the orchestra room where we all were, he was fully decked out in a Captain America costume, fake muscles and all. So kudos to Mr. Bowman, too. For once, you are cool.

I just decided I like the word paraphernelia. Say it. Paraphernelia. Paraphernelia. It's kind of hard to type though.

It is an early release day today, so I won't be at school for much longer (14 minutes, to be exact), and then I shall find myself some food, take a nap, and then go to work from four until seven, which is incredibly extensive, I know. And then I shall see what my lovely parents want to do with me until I head out to Keystone for the Haunting of Keystone tonight. If I die, I love you all. But I am terrified of going.

I am not dressing up this Halloween (I know, I know, I am so lame!), but I didn't really see the point of dressing up for four hours for school, changing my clothes for work, and then changing them back to potentially have gone trick or treating that is not even going to happen this year, before changing back into normal clothes for the Haunting of Keystone.

I did write a creepy and weird story for my journal in ICT today, but if you want to see that, you have to go to my individual blog.

I hope you all have a happy, creepy, gory, and glorious Halloween! Love you all! Love, Me. (Caite, duh!)

Parties and... More Parties! (and Homework...)

This last weekend we all convened together in Utah to celebrate Great-Grandpa's 80th birthday and their 60th wedding anniversary. (I've only been married for two years- we have a long way to go!)

As usual we had way too much fun, eating food and laughing and punching each other and overall just enjoying ourselves.

I can't wait for Thanksgiving.

It's Mama and Daddy on the swings! I'm so grateful for our parents' example of love and devotion too!
This seriously is a great picture of us. I can't get over how much I love it. Even though KT's head looks slightly disjunct from her body.

I wish I had more to write about, but unless you want me to tell you about tracker-action organs or characterization in writing.... there really isn't any fancy news about anything. I mean, I want to say  "Surprise! We're getting kittens!" but there's this issue with our landlord and our contract saying in big letters "NO PETS" so... yeah. You'd think with 14 credits that I would have less homework than 18, but I kind of don't. Now I'm super glad I chose not to take any ensembles, even though Symphony Orchestra is playing the "Planets" and Berlioz "Symphonie Fantastique"...... I guess I did play in the student organ recital this last Thursday, and I didn't blow it (which is always a plus). And Dan is still working night shifts (I'm surprised he looks as happy as he does in that picture, he only got about four hours of sleep that morning) but he's earning some pretty sweet paychecks every two weeks so I suppose I shouldn't complain overly much.

And in case you didn't know, we're both planned to graduate this upcoming April, something like the second weekend, so mark your calendars because we both plan on being there! What happens after that? Psh. Like we have a clue. Dan is applying for masters degree program as ISU so we could be joining Andrew and Julie in Poky a year from now, but that's about all we've got.

Hope school and everything is going well for you two- it would be  nice if in her next post Meems would mention the degree she finally chose, and if KT has anything she's decided yet she should post that. And anything else of remote interest, of course! Like that fact that I love plain mini marshmallows and am going to go eat some now while I try to finish my homework... Night all!
